Networks Tap VertigoXmedia to Deliver On-Air Election Graphics
By TVTechnology published
Major U.S. TV networks used the VertigoXmedia graphics tool to deliver election results in the race for the presidency.
Major networks such as NBC, ABC, CNN and others broadcast election results using Producer Xmedia as well as local networks, Burlington, Vt.-based WCAX-TV and Long Island-based HDNews-News12.
"Event coverage like this represents a real challenge to broadcasters. With live data coming from so many sources, networks face the enormous task of compiling, processing and airing data-based graphics--all while delivering live broadcasts," said David Wilkins, president and CEO of VertigoXmedia.
After automating the acquisition results from each state, Producer Xmedia normalizes the data and sends it to several applications simultaneously. The system then links data to graphics templates that are inserted into playlists. The graphics automation tool then updates the graphics as results are announced.
