By TVTechnology published
NASCAR Media Group (NMG) recently announced the use of 34 new KONA 3 video capture and playback cards from AJA Video. 16 are reserved for ingest, 18 for editing playback and supporting field work.
The production company behind the races, NMG acquired the cards and adopted an exclusively Apple ProRes workflow to assist its transition to HD as well as its physical move to a new 40,000 square foot facility still under construction in Charlotte, North Carolina, the NASCAR Plaza.
KONA 3 is AJA Video’s premiere uncompressed capture card boasting support for any SD or HD video format including 2k and Dual Link HD. It offers playback in uncompressed 8- and 10-bit digital video and 24-bit digital audio.
Jeff Lowe, NMG managing director, is coupling AJA’s KONA 3 cards with their FS1 frame synchronizer and converter technology.
"We're an all-AJA, all-ProRes shop," Lowe said. "We're big AJA fans, and prefer to use their products whenever possible.”
