NAB Urges Broadcast Minority Tax Incentive Program

NAB President and CEO David Rehr sent a letter last week to House Ways and Means Committee Chairman Charles Rangel (D-N.Y.) requesting a hearing to explore ways to increase diversity and representation of minority groups and women in the communications industry.

“NAB strongly supports the reinstatement of a tax incentive program that would provide companies tax credits or other benefits if they sell broadcast properties to minorities or women,” Rehr said in the letter.

Until it was killed in 1995 by Congress for alleged mismanagement, the incentive program gave tax breaks to station or group owners that sold facilities to minorities and women.
