MPEG LA, LLC has issued a call for patents essential to the ATSC DTV standard. Any party that believes it has a patent essential for the ATSC standard is invited to submit its patent(s) for evaluation. Initial submissions are requested by Feb. 15, 2005. Interested parties may request a copy of the terms and procedures governing patent submissions at FCC, "Programs in Development," then "ATSC."
The ATSC standard refers here to the DTV terrestrial transmission standards adopted in the United States, Canada, South Korea, Argentina and Mexico for the deployment and use of digital standard and hi-def television.
Patent evaluations will be conducted by a team led by Dr. Kenneth Rubenstein of Proskauer Rose LLP based in New York.
