If you’re the mom whose darling child has just informed you that the school is expecting you to deliver five dozen holiday cookies tomorrow, you want ideas now. But it’s no longer just Google you’ll hit for recipes in your desperation, er, immediate need. Now, it seems people also look to mobile TV.
If anything shows it, the presidential elections and Beijing Games have. People tune in to mobile TV when they want information about something happening now. And right now, it’s the winter holiday show. People want tips on what to cook, how to decorate the driveway and house and how to come up with stylish gifts. And they want the look, the feel and the how-to while they're in the store.
That’s the reasoning behind MediaFLO USA and Scripps Networks' new FLO TV lifestyle service that gives AT&T Mobile TV customers a movable, or rather, mobile, feast of home and cooking programs for all the solstice celebrations: Christmas, Hanukkah, New Year's and the Super Bowl.
Scripps Networks' first mobile TV offering will air content rich in sample bites of Food Network, HGTV shows like "Myles of Style" and "Design on a Dime," DIY Network and Fine Living Network. It started running in mid–November to help out with Thanksgiving and ends Feb. 3 to embrace all calendars and winter celebrations.
"Scripps Networks is the ideal media outlet to provide FLO TV viewers with entertaining and helpful lifestyle programming for the holidays," said Jonathan Barzilay, senior VP of programming and advertising at MediaFLO USA. "With our new mobile TV service, consumers can enjoy cooking and decorating tips any place or any time as they prepare for special occasions."
