Mitsubishi To Feature TV Guide On Screen In Digital TVs

Gemstar-TV Guide and Mitsubishi signed a multi-year licensing agreement for an undisclosed amount, under which Mitsubishi purchased the right to incorporate TV Guide On Screen into its digital televisions and recorders in North America. Gemstar-TV Guide had already entered into an agreement with Mitsubishi Electric Corp., the parent company of Mitsubishi, which allowed for the incorporation of the interactive program guide in consumer electronics in Japan and Europe. Mitsubishi will pay licensing fees to Gemstar-TV Guide based on the number of units sold that include the technology. Mitsubishi joins a growing list of licensees for Gemstar-TV Guide's program guide, including JVC, Zenith, Samsung and Sony.
