Miranda debuts new iControl monitoring and control features

Miranda Technologies has added new features to its iControl monitoring and control-over-IP system that enable operators to proactively identify equipment problems and facility failures before they occur. With iControl, operators can diagnose and repair complex systems using a monitoring by exception (MBE) approach that leverages standard IP infrastructures and streaming media.

The iControl system is a high-level element management system capable of managing complex multichannel and multi-format television operations comprising hundreds of signals. It uses industry-standard SNMP protocols for monitoring and controlling video, as well as all the surrounding transmission, networking, and building infrastructure.

A new Third-Party Zone feature allows other companies’ software applications to run directly within iControl, enabling a single keyboard and mouse to control all Miranda and third-party applications. Other features include visual monitoring, in-depth access to third-party devices, an embedded web browser, and a group of scripted macros that allow automatic reaction to element failures and guide operators through complex diagnostic and repair procedures.

At NAB2005, Miranda will also introduce its iControl Solo monitoring and control software. This software package allows broadcast operators and maintenance engineers to configure and control Miranda’s Densité and Imaging Series interfaces directly from a standard Windows PC.
