Core Networks, a provider of operations support system (OSS) solutions for the cable television/broadband industry, has announced that Mediacom Communications has successfully deployed Core's OSS suite to manage, monitor, and help deploy its advanced broadband services. The eighth largest cable operator in the U.S., Mediacom now passes more than 2.6 million households.
The three products within the suite to be used by Mediacom are CoreOS, CoreComposer, and CoreMeter. CoreOS provides overall network management and is a complete solution for managing the entire subscriber lifecycle including activation and support. CoreOS enables the activation of high volumes of new subscribers in a timely, cost-effective manner. It also allows cable operators to offer self-provisioning and online self care, while giving customer support personnel easy-to-use tools for diagnosing and addressing larger issues.
Complementing the overall management features of CoreOS, CoreComposer defines and edits configuration files for DOCSIS devices, while CoreMeter, Core’s new network assurance solution, collects and displays historical data to allow trend management from a variety of administrative levels. CoreMeter enables Mediacom to more accurately predict subscriber/service behavior, thereby improving capacity planning.
