Marriott, Motorola Keep Travelers Connected

Marriott International has chosen Motorola’s PowerBroadband system for delivery of IPTV, high-speed Internet, and other connectivity services to Marriott guests.

PowerBroadband has recently been deployed in over 15,000 Marriott-branded guestrooms in hotels including the Crystal Gateway Marriott in Arlington, Va., the Marriott Wardman Park in Washington, D.C., and the Orlando World Center Resort and Convention Center in Orlando, Fla.

The companies said Motorola’s mT2a PowerBroadband product line was selected because it provides the performance levels required for next-generation, triple- and quad-play IP services and it is easy to use, install and maintain classic broadband systems. The mT2a PowerBroadband system features the m2 Wallplate, which directly snaps on over existing telephone wall plates found in hotel guestrooms. Neither additional wiring nor rewiring is required.

“While the primary application supported today is high-speed Internet access, the new broadband infrastructure will enable additional guest services such as IPTV, movie and video downloads voice-over-IP, wireless access and dual-mode cell phones,” said Lou Paladeau, vice president operations technology at Marriott.
