Lyon Video Selects Calrec Bluefin Technology

Lyon Video, a full-service video and film production company, has selected a Calrec Sigma audio console equipped with Bluefin technology for its latest mobile broadcasting unit.

Headquartered in Columbus, Ohio, Lyon Video said it chose the Sigma desk with Bluefin to ensure that the audio board will accommodate increased future demand for 5.1 mixing. The new broadcasting truck is also fully equipped for high-definition production.

Calrec's Bluefin high-density signal processing system provides 320 channel processing paths packaged as 108 stereo and 104 mono channels, allowing up to 52 full 5.1 surround sound channels.

For now, even events that are not recorded in 5.1 benefit from the Sigma with Bluefin. Late in 2006, after only a few weeks in service, Lyon's new truck was deployed to broadcast the Ultimate Fighting Championship in Las Vegas.

"UFC is an excellent example of one of our clients benefiting from the Sigma console with Bluefin," said Chad Snyder, account manager at Lyon Video. "UFC uses a ton of submixes. They pushed the console hard, and were very happy with the result."
