Liberty Stations To Use Harris FlexiCoders
By TVTechnology published
Greenville, S.C.-based Liberty Corp. will use Harris FlexiCoder MPEG-2 encoders for its stations' DTV broadcasts. Several Liberty-owned stations are already using the FlexiCoder and Harris has signed a contract with Liberty use the FlexiCoder in all 15 Liberty-owned stations by 2003.
The FlexiCoder allows for HD and SD encoding with compression management for both formats. The encoder also supports Dolby AC-3 2.0 and Musicam in each video encoder module with external support from Dolby E and Dolby AC-3 5.1. The optional TSI-100 card lets broadcasters ingest MPEG-2 transport streams into the FlexiCoder via an ASI input or over an IP network.
Each station will have one HD and two SD modules.
