LG, LodgeNet Strengthen ‘HD Built-in’ Deal
LG Electronics said it has expanded its current alliance with LodgeNet Interactive a component of LodgeNet, a company that affects the HD capabilities of tens of thousands of hotel rooms, mostly in North America. A key part of the deal is LG’s agreement to incorporate LodgeNet’s interactive terminals into LG’s new models of HD flat-screens, which are specifically designed for lodging facilities and their customers.
LG said it also plans to jointly marketing LodgeNet Interactive’s “HD Certified Installation” program—a professional installation service which both firms said will enhance LG’s new “HD Built-in” products by ensuring compatibility of the new HD sets with LodgeNet systems.
Starting this fall, at least 11 new LG HD Built-in sets (bundled with proprietary LodgeNet technology) will be available for lodging properties. The new hotel units include five 32-inch, two 37-inch and two 42-inch LCD models, as well as two 42-inch-class plasma models.
