KVAL-TV selects MicroFirst for server automation

CBS Affiliate KVAL-TV, in Eugene, Ore., has installed a digital automation system, from MicroFirst Engineering to automate its ingest operations of incoming satellite feeds and commercial spots. KVAL-TV/DT, owned by Fisher Broadcasting, broadcasts on analog channel 13 and digital channel 25 in Western Oregon.

The new multichannel automation system will also streamline the transmission and metadata management of its content.

Jerry Berger, MicroFirst’s vice president and general manager, said the automation system at KVAL-TV will control the station’s centralcasting application.

MicroFirst, which specializes in wide-area network automation systems that are completely scalable, has installed its Digital Automation System in a variety of broadcast television and radio networks and stations, as well as multimedia presentation control rooms for large and multi-screen video displays for museums.
