KTVB Separates HD and SD News Programs
TV station KTVB, a Belo-owned property in Boise, Idaho, is now simultaneously transmitting two separate news broadcasts on its DTV channel, including HD and SD programs. The new broadcast is called "DTV 24/7" and it will initially run time-shifted replays of the station's analog newscasts.
In addition to the time-shifted analog newscasts, "DTV 24/7" will have five other programs that don't appear on the analog version of KTVB. Belo's management says that the new DTV service will explore other programming options, including an original newscast and "hyperlocal" programming.
Upgrading the systems at KTVB was handled by Burst , a design and systems integration company based in Denver. The new facility boasts a Grass Valley Profile XP server and routing, and automation from Sundance Digital.
