KOSA-TV Upgrades With JVC
CBS's Odessa, Texas affiliate, KOSA-TV, Channel 7, has added seven JVC ProHD GY-HD110U camcorders for field acquisition and live remote broadcasts. The station also bought six ProHD BR-HD50U player/recorders for nonlinear editing and station archives.
"We chose JVC because of the HD110's features, portability and price," said Jim McKinnon, director of engineering, KOSA-TV, who added that this new equipment replaced the station's Beta SP units.
"The HD110s give us more shooting time per tape--60 minutes compared to 20 minutes with Beta," said McKinnon.
Other advantages noted by McKinnon included "less weight on the shoulder" and the ability "to use a laptop in the field to ingest and transport to the station via Internet with the cameras' fire wire interface."
