JUST EDIT installs the solution for video broadcast, archive in Mexico

An ambitious project to configure and install Web and broadcast asset-management systems for DGTVE (Dirección General de Televisión Educativa), run by the Mexican Ministry of Education, is currently underway in Mexico.

The $4 million project calls for an asset-management solution to serve the needs of eight television channels, which will grow to 16 in phase two of the project, with 65 journalist/trainer stations at one location to be used for tele-education.

JUST EDIT, a Spanish vendor of automation and digital television solutions, was selected for the work after a round of public bidding. The Mexican education ministry selected the company’s Video Stream Network (VSN) solution for the installation.

The VSN solution will allow users to digitize, store, catalog and create dynamic Web sites and to broadcast the audio and video content of the ministry.

The project encompasses connection and disconnection of different production origination rooms, system remote control, rundowns made via the Internet and content browsing for different TV channels. System features include the operator-free control of all automated processes via IP, including the control of switchers, routers, VTRs, robots and tape libraries.

The VSN system is MOS-compatible, and databases run on SUN 12K with MySQL. This project is an advanced and integrated model that brings digital signal formats through video and computing layers. The suite of VSN programs allows users to optimize resources and maximize personnel efficiency.

Because the ministry’s system is being integrated by the same manufacturer, it is possible to optimize integration level, creating a logical, intuitive workflow in areas such as ingest, storage, catalog, archive, master control room, graphics and Web publishing.
