Japan's Oki Electric Industry Co. said this week it will soon grow production capacity at its Thailand plant and other operations for driver LSIs (large-scale integration) for HD-grade LCD TV panels. Oki said it is responding to the "rapidly expanding demand" for HD LCD products around the world. Starting later this summer it will increase its production run of driver LSIs from 10 million to 15 million units monthly.
With the 50 percent increase in production, Oki said it plans to continue making driver LSIs on a global basis by applying its "supply chain management" system at Oki Thailand for assembly and testing, as well as at its existing plants in South Korea, Taiwan and Japan.
