ITN On has added a new range of free content products to 3, a mobile TV service based in the UK. Earlier this year, 3 adopted an ad-supported business model for some of its mobile TV content, allowing customers to view it for free.
ITN On is providing 3’s Planet 3 portal with several new shows, including “EPL,” a rundown of the latest news from England’s professional soccer teams; “Most Requested,” a five-minute celebrity news program; and “Cocktails,” a how-to show for mixing popular cocktails. This is in addition to the news and sports programming ITN On has already been offering to 3 customers.
The programming clips range in length from 90 seconds to five minutes. 3 subscribers access the clips from their phones by clicking on a banner on the electronic programming guide. In order to view the content, they must watch a 10-second pre-roll advertisement.
The advertising is being delivered to customers through an ad targeting and management platform developed by Rhythm New Media, a company specializing in mobile advertising based in California. Revenue from the advertisements is shared among ITN On, 3 and Rhythm New Media.
