Indie Film Database Launched

Independent film provider IndiePix has announced that on 17 September it will demonstrate a new interactive service to provide consumers with intelligent pathways to explore thousands of films from independent film makers, as well as order and download films of interest.

At the launch, IndiePix President Bob Alexander will outline how the economics of independent film production and the significant increase of independent film festivals have lead to a proliferation of titles available to consumers. The demonstration is based on a catalogue of more than 3,000 curated independent films from around the world, many of which are otherwise unavailable to the film fan. This catalogue is planned to grow to 10,000 over the next 18 months.

Alexander will be joined at the briefing by Kal Ahmed, Founder of NetworkedPlanet, information management tool vendor, who will explain how the website uses an intelligent navigation system which allows IndiePix's in-house team of film experts to insert the theme of the film, its focus on key topics, its filmmaking style, and other information. The system will then create relevant links, so that when someone is browsing any one film online, it will suggest other links based on relevance and similarities.
