IBC2007 to offer broadcasting by broadband theme day

IBC2007 will explore technologies making broadband distribution of TV content a real and growing enterprise as the opening day theme of the convention Sept. 6.

The day will offer insight and analysis of DSL, WiFi, WiMAX, power line, ultra wide band, digital terrestrial, digital satellite and mobile TV technologies. For those with a business interest, the convention will also offer a look at industry regulation and finance for the broadband sector.

Among the topics to be discussed will be the likelihood of telcos and ISPs to get the spectrum they seek as terrestrial services go digital and how regulation covering broadcast content development will be applied to broadband delivery.

IBC2007 broadband-related sessions Sept. 6 include:

  • Reports on real–world deployments;
  • Wired and wireless technologies;
  • IPTV tutorial — the technology behind broadband broadcasting in association with the IEEE BTS;
  • The future of broadband broadcasting.

As part of the day’s planned conferences, IBC2007 will offer a free session hosted by the MPEG Industry Forum (MPEGIF) on the next generation of TV technology and the associated business models. The full-day session will provide a forum for IP-based TV service operators and technologists to discuss how multimedia is being created, compressed and delivered.
