IBC sets attendance record

IBC2006 was the largest in the event’s history and covered a broader range of technology and production tools than ever before.

Coming from more than 130 countries, attendees numbered around 45,000, a more than 5 percent increase from 2005's record-breaking number.

The exhibition was also bigger than ever before — a 12th hall had to be created for the occasion. The conference was both more encompassing and more popular than before, with a big rise in the number of free sessions open to all visitors. The added value events — from the Training Zone to the IBC Big Screen Experience — were much in demand.

IBC also brought to Europe for the first time the ultra high-definition TV system developed by Japanese broadcaster NHK and a consortium of manufacturers. Again, demand for seats in the demonstration theater far outweighed supply.
