On Nov. 6, The Hollywood Post Alliance (HPA) presented its annual awards to honor those working in motion pictures, television and commercials. The ceremony included awards for Engineering Excellence, Lifetime Achievement, the first Charles S. Swartz Award and the HPA Judges Awards.

Among a number of categories for color grading, image compositing, video editing and audio post production, special awards were given to Elizabeth Daley, dean of the University of Southern California School of Cinematic Arts, for Outstanding Contribution in the Field of Post Production; and a Lifetime Achievement Award to Ron Burdett. He also ran post house Sunset Digital for more than 25 years.

The HPA’s Engineering Excellence Award was shared by FastSoft, Quantel and Panasonic; while the HPA Judges Award for Creativity and Innovation in Post Production went to DigitalFilm Tree and CBS; Laser Pacific and Sony Pictures Imageworks.

The HPA represents the professional community of businesses and individuals that provide expertise, support, tools and the infrastructure for the creation and finishing of motion pictures, television, commercials, digital media and other dynamic media content.
