Hitachi unveils SK-HD1000 studio/field production camera

At NAB2007 this week, Hitachi is introducing the SK-HD1000 HDTV digital production camera, which employs the latest generation 2/3in CCD imagers with full-raster HDTV pixels (1920 x 1080 or 1280 x 720).

This new series of HDTV cameras bridges the price gap between Hitachi’s line of SDTV studio/field production cameras and its existing HDTV models.

The basic initial offering is intended for studio and field production applications that employ hybrid optical fiber cable digital transmission based on SMPTE296M (720p) or 274M (1080i) standards, depending upon the type of imager selected. The fiber-optic cable conforms to SMPTE311M specifications, which guarantees complete transparency in the transmission from the camera to the CCU.

The basic performance specifications of the SK-HD1000 are:

  • F11 sensitivity at 2000lux;
  • Signal-to-noise ratio greater than 56dB;
  • IT-centric communication ports and protocols with support for remote diagnostics, configuration, updates and service.

The SK-HD1000 series of HDTV cameras will be available the third quarter of this year.
