Hearst-Argyle Television is upgrading stations in its group with Harmonic's DiviCom encoders to enable multicasting.
Harmonic has announced that Hearst-Argyle Television is upgrading stations in its group with Harmonic's digital video products to allow multicasting.
The sale encompasses Harmonic's DiviCom standard and high-definition encoders, and the DiviTrack statistical multiplexing system, which maximizes the channel density while providing a broadcast quality picture. NMX Digital Service Manager is being used to monitor service performance as well as to control and automate critical functions.

DiviTrack statistical multiplexing further improves bit-rate efficiency by dynamically reallocating bandwidth between channels in the multiplex according to the complexity of the video.
Hearst-Argyle is able to better monitor and control its digital TV services with Harmonic's NMX Digital Service Manger. NMX automates service operations and scheduling, efficiently detects and resolves problems, enables advanced redundancy architectures, and facilitates the installation and configuration of devices in the network.
