HD PVRs Come to Canada

Canada's largest cable operator has launched HD PVR service to its subscribers.

Toronto-based Rogers Cable is now offers a high-definition version of its Personal Video Recorder (HD PVR) to Rogers Digital Cable customers in Ontario, New Brunswick and Newfoundland.

"Customers with the latest and greatest technology in their homes, will now have complete control of their television viewing experience with the Rogers HD PVR digital terminal so they can literally watch what they want, when they want," John Munro, Vice-President of Marketing, Rogers Cable said.

Rogers customers can rent an HD PVR digital terminal for $24.95 per month or buy it for $799.

The HD PVR has a dual tuner that allows viewers to watch one television show while recording two other shows at the same time. Up for 20 hours of HDTV programming or 90 hours or regular television programming can be recorded.
