Harris provides news automation system for CNN+ Madrid
By TVTechnology published
The first interface between the Harris automation system and an Avid Inews newsroom computer system is taking place at CNN+ Madrid.
CNN+ Madrid, a subsidiary of Spain’s pay TV group, Sogecable, has been using a Harris ADC-100 automation system since last August.
The ADC-100 automation system remotely controls VTRs and streams from Avid’s AirSpace video servers. Records are generated on AirSpace through two Media Client applications. Using ActiveX plug-ins, Harris provides seven Media Explorer application software tools that are inserted into the Inews software window. Multiple editors simultaneously create the rundown and a placeholder in the automation database. Media Explorer displays the database hierarchy and list view, and the entire automation system is connected to an SQL database.
Harris' AirNews ADC 100 application software interfaces with the Avid Inews using MOS protocol.
AirNews rundowns generated into Inews are automatically transferred into the Harris automation system. It is then inserted directly into the transmission list, so it can be broadcast immediately.
