Harris One gets India's Kalaignar TV on air

India's Kalaignar TV, based in southern India, has invested in several Harris systems for its two new satellite TV channels. The Tamil-language broadcaster's offering comprises a news and general entertainment channel and a music channel.

Harris has supplied a server network for playout and editing, including its NEXIO servers with 19.2TB of storage as part of its One broadcast package. Also included in the deal is a Velocity NX HD editor; the NEXIO Ingest Control Manager application which will manage scheduled line feed recordings; and the NEXIO PlayList application for sequencing and playing content to air. Kalaignar TV has also chosen peripheral systems, including 6800+ modular core processing products, a SuiteView multi-source display processor, a Panacea Clean/Quiet Switch router, master clocks and sync generators from Harris.

"Harris has played an integral role in helping Kalaignar TV broadcast high-quality news and entertainment to the people of Tamil Nadu," said Sharad Kumar, Director, Kalaignar TV. "Key factors in our decision to select Harris include the reliability, scalability and collaborative, seamless workflow environment that the NEXIO system provides, along with the company's comprehensive local support and fast system rollout."

The sale was concluded via Harris' local distributor, Primeasure Technologies.
