Great Britain: European HDTV Summit Set for Feb. 16

It took a while to get rolling, following several years of SD-only digital transitions in several countries of Western Europe (where many newly deployed DTV sets have no HD capabilities, to begin with), but HD is now in the midst of launching via satellite and cable.

To coincide with HD's quickened rollout pace, the Third European HDTV Summit will be held at the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) in London on Feb. 16. By that time, BAFTA said, a handful of HD services will be well underway. The summit will be sponsored by SES-ASTRA, with the support of Pioneer,Texas Instruments-DLP,Tandberg Television,GlobeCast and Pace.
