Global Ontario Gets First Harris CENTRIO Broadcast Multiviewer

Harris Corp. is delivering its first new CENTRIO multiviewer to Global Ontario, the flagship station of Global Television Network, a division of CanWest MediaWorks Inc.

The CENTRO, introduced at the NAB2007, is a multi-image processor featuring enhanced graphics, broadcast-quality routing and integrated test and measurement tools.

“CENTRIO is a landmark development in multiviewer design and value,” said Tim Thorsteinson, president of Harris Broadcast Communications. “It also is a prime example of the ONE initiative Harris unveiled at NAB2007, which signifies our ability to provide unparalleled interoperability across our broad product line and powerful, integrated workflow solutions to our customers. For CENTRIO, developers from across the Harris technology portfolio collaborated to rethink and redesign the traditional multi-image processor, with a key focus on superior flexibility. CENTRIO is able to quickly and easily integrate into the Global Television network’s existing infrastructure, without the need for time-consuming and costly redesign.”

CENTRIO combines an advanced graphics engine and routing infrastructure in a single, expandable chassis, enabling new capabilities with simplified system designs. It’s designed for broadcast, multi-video, audio monitoring, master control rooms, broadcast trucks, events and staging applications, or wherever dynamic access to a large number of inputs and multiple displays is required.

CENTRIO was awarded a STAR Award (Superior Technology Award Recipient) from TV Technology at NAB2007.
