Satellite navigation device maker Garmin recently licensed the onHandTV mobile TV software from Silicon & Software Systems (S3) to give its nüvi 900T navigator digital television functionality.
Garmin chose the S3 onHandTV solution primarily for the software’s interoperability with multiple networks and service protection vendors as well as its support for multiple industry standards. The company is looking to give the 900T global reach into countries launching mobile TV services.
The nüvi 900T navigator is co-branded with wireless carrier 3 Italia for deployment in its DVB-H network and will be available in Italy in July 2008.
