Gannett Station Automates With Avid

Gannett-owned Denver television station KUSA purchased Avid's Active ContentManager system to automate its Web publishing process. ContentManager adds to KUSA's existing Avid end-to-end digital nonlinear news production environment by working with Avid NewsCutter, Unity for News and iNews systems to enable the station's journalists to post late-breaking news to its Web site. Videos are then encoded to Web resolutions, ingested into the ContentManager database and distributed to KUSA's streaming service provider. Additionally, business rules, such as scheduling and approvals, can be applied.

Gannett has replaced tape-based products with Avid news production gear at 12 of its 22 stations.
