Freedom Broadcasting Selects Ross Video for Multistation Upgrade

Freedom Broadcasting has purchased six OverDrive production control systems and Synergy 4 MD-X multidefinition production switchers from Ross Video to update technical operations across a number of its stations.

Freedom Broadcasting owns nine television stations: five stations are CBS affiliates, three stations are ABC affiliates, and one station is a CW affiliate. Freedom is currently producing local news up to eight hours a day at four stations using Ross automation production control technology. Installation at the other stations is expected to be complete in 2007.

OverDrive is a scalable production control system with a real-time LiveLink MOS interface to the newsroom editorial system. The Synergy 4 MD-X combines a four effects bank control panel with the MD-X live production engine, providing four full MLEs with up to four downstream keyers. The device control capabilities of the Synergy 4 MD-X combined with OverDrive gives users the ability to execute a more consistent news production.

Tony Alicea, director of broadcast systems at Freedom Broadcasting said, "Overall, we've not been disappointed in our experience with Ross Video. Our systems were delivered early and our installations went smoothly."
