FOR-A debuts new HANABI switcher

Designed for live broadcast production and studio applications, FOR-A has introduced a new addition to its HANABI digital video switcher line — the HVS-1500HS HANABI 1.5 M/E switcher. The new unit’s 4RU chassis makes it ideal for outside broadcast applications, such as mobile video units, remote productions and portable studios.

The HVS-1500HS is positioned between the HVS-1000HS 1 M/E and HVS-3800HS 2 M/E models, all three of which support all major HD formats, as well as 525/60 and 625/50. The switcher is available with three types of control panels: 16-button, 24-button and rackmountable 12-button versions.

Like the other members of the HANABI switcher product family, the HVS-1500HS offers a high-performance DVE capable of real 3-D DVE effects. The 3-D DVE has polygonal-based effects where video is literally wrapped around 3-D shapes. The switcher can also accommodate an optional two quad split-screen function. It supports 16 inputs, which can be expanded by the addition of 12 inputs, two utility inputs and one downconvert input.

The HVS-1500HS also offers optional color correction functions that can be applied to the primary inputs and keyers; as well as optional process control, gamma corrections, and various clip functions. The parameters for these functions can be stored in the event memory to enable changes to be made in the course of sequences. It also provides four still stores, with the option to add two more.

An optional frame memory provides three seconds in each of its two channels to record HD, or 19 seconds in each of two channels to record SD video. With memory expansion, these recording times can be doubled.
