ExtendMedia enhances OpenCASE content services platform

Targeting the global distribution of digital entertainment content, ExtendMedia, a provider of software for digital media commerce, has enhanced its OpenCASE digital content services platform, as part of its participation as an IBM Business Partner. The OpenCASE application works with the IBM Digital Consumer solution to support the end-to-end business process for assembly, management, consumption and measurement of digital content.

The company’s digital content services platform enables content rights holders and distributors to quickly create, manage, secure and monetize content services across broadband, TV and mobile devices.

Built on a service-oriented architecture, the product gives companies the flexibility to create, control and securely deliver high-quality media services. It includes modules that can be used separately or as a complete solution to target metadata management, DRM, encoding, support for multiple commerce models, publishing and distribution. OpenCASE is available as both a Software as a Service (SaaS) or as an enterprise-licensed, on-premise offering.

Enhancements in the new version of OpenCASE allow easier syndication of content, so distributors can reuse electronic sell-thru (EST) and subscription video offerings on multiple sites. The new version also expands support for deploying applications on portable devices, and adds compliance for COPP, a content security protocol.

The company, based in Boston, MA, has also expanded its operations in the UK and Western Europe, in addition to offices in London and Milan.
