Entravision Taps Harris for DTV Transmitters
Entravision Communications, has purchased Harris DTVTV transmitters for 17 of its stations.
The Spanish-language media company selected Harris PowerCD high-power, UHF solid-state transmitters for the majority of the stations and DiamondCD UHF solid-state transmitters for stations that require a total output power of less than 15kW. Both transmitters provide digital transmission across all power levels and will allow all 17 stations to transmit digital terrestrial programming at the maximum power allocated to each station by the FCC. The transmitters are slated to ship in 2006.
Both transmitters, featuring the Harris Apex digital exciters with real-time adaptive correction capabilities for linear and nonlinear distortions, will be integrated with the Harris Ranger UHF ATSC digital transmitters at all 17 stations. For additional redundancy, engineers can enable a dual-exciter configuration within the new transmitter or Ranger at each facility.
