EchoStar announced this week that its DISH network is delivering some form of interactive TV to more than 5 million of its 8 million-plus satellite customers.
DISH network's interactive offerings include 14 channels of interactive channels powered by OpenTV's iTV platform. More interactive channels will be announced in the near future, the company said.
Interactive channels include DISH Home, a free service, provided with the DISH package and provides on-demand news, weather, sports and entertainment information. Other interactive offerings include Customer Support which allows customers to monitor and pay DISH network bills, Instant Weather, provided by Accuweather, Tribune Media Services Zap2it Entertainment interactive TV and movie information channel and several sports information channels provided by STATS, Inc.
