Net Insight has announced that the company received an expansion order from the European Broadcasting Union to upgrade and expand the Eurovision Nimbra network driven by the expected TV feeds from the Olympic Games in Beijing. The order contains an upgrade of the Eurovision backbone network with Net Insight's high capacity switch Nimbra 680 as well as more Nimbra One and Nimbra 340 access nodes. The upgrade is initially driven by large requirements from the major TV broadcasters in Europe to cover the Olympic Games in Beijing.
The majority special TV feeds from the Olympics are brought to the European public TV-broadcasters over the EBU's fiber network. "It is an honor to have been trusted for many years by Eurovision for the technology transporting feeds from major mission critical news and sport events around the world", says Fredrik Trägårdh, CEO of Net Insight.
