Europe is leading the world in digital terrestrial television (DTT), but other regions are gaining momentum, according to research organization In-Stat.
A new report from In-Stat, “World Report on Digital Terrestrial Set-Top Boxes,” finds that with analog shutoff approaching in North America and Western Europe, strong drivers for digital terrestrial set-top boxes are on the horizon.
The In-Stat research found:
- Total unit shipments of digital terrestrial set-top boxes will eclipse 47 million in 2011.
- U.S. converter boxes will hit the market next year.
- Revenue will have a more subdued compound annual growth rate of 18.2 percent than unit sales growth because of decreasing set-top box prices.
