DK in New Danish Post Facility

DK-Technologies has supplied two MSD200C audio meters to Welcome Post Production A/S, a brand-new post-production facility that opened in Copenhagen in October.

Housed in a restored building in the centre of Copenhagen, Welcome Post is part of the Baugur Group, an international investment company that focuses on investments in retail, property and media in Iceland, the United Kingdom and Scandinavia.

The facility is headed by Ulla Rørdam, who was previously head of production at Sonne Film in Denmark and has over 17 years experience in post production. Among its clients are Danish film and television companies and local advertising agencies.

Welcome Post Technical Director Arne Schultz said the facility offers three VFX suites, one offline studio, an audio studio and a mastering room, all equipped to the highest technical standards.

"We handle a wide variety of formats and operate entirely on the Mac platform", he said. "Our ethos is to provide customers with a high level of creativity supported by the very latest technology".

The decision to invest in two audio meters from DK-Technologies was based on this philosophy — Welcome Post wanted to ensure that any audio leaving its facility would be properly balanced and adjusted to the highest peak level.

"We receive audio from many sources and the levels can vary significantly", said Schultz. "Different broadcasters have different peak level requirements, so for quality control purposes it is essential that we measure the levels on the final DigiBeta tapes that we deliver to our clients. MSD200C meters allow our sound engineers to adjust final levels by as much as 4dB more than we can achieve with software meters and/or tape machine meters. They also allow us to be far more precise and to identify any phase or panning problems that might arise during the final mix".
