Discover Channel recently selected equipment from Tandberg Television to drive interactive applications for its Discover HD Theater series, Discovery Atlas.
Viewers can access the interactive applications at the Discovery Atlas Web site. Launched Oct. 1 with an exploration of China, the network plans to explore a total of 20 countries during the next five years.
"Discovery Atlas is a fantastic example of the multi-platform experience that today's leading television creators are bringing to enrich the viewing experience," said Braxton Jarratt, senior vice president of marketing and business development for Tandberg Television Inc. "Live interactive enhancements, as illustrated with our Discovery deployment, showcases the exciting possibilities for interactive television."
Viewer interactivity includes geography-based trivia questions, bonus information on cultures and personal stories, as well as in-depth facts and figures for countries profiled.
