DIRECTV has deployed Harmonic's Electra 7000 HD MPEG-4 AVC (H.264) encoders for its national HD channel expansion.
The direct-to-home satellite service will use the encoders, the Harmonic ProStream 1000 stream processing platform with DiviTrackIP distributed statistical multiplexing and Harmonic's NMX Digital Service Manager as part of its latest HD channel lineup expansion, which is expected to add up to 100 national HD channels by year’s end.
