Croatia: Deutsche Telekom Firm Launches HD

T-Hrvatski Telekom (T-HT), a telco serving Croatia and owned by Deutsche Telekom, said it began providing commercial HD services this month on its IPTV platform MAXtv, just as it reached the 150,000 subscriber level. MAXtv premiered in the country about two and a half years ago, and has been offering some HD content on a sampling basis for more than a year, according to published reports.

T-HT's basic HD tier includes both familiar and not-so-familiar niche venues such as National Geographic Channel HD, Eurosport, History, Voom, Luxe TV, and Melody Zen HD, among others. HD subscriptions are about $9 monthly.

MAXtv currently offers more than 100 Croatian and international channels, including the growing HD platform—along with free VOD and PPV content, and a DVR system that, like some Asian and North American models, can be programmed remotely via the Internet.
