Cox Television purchases Avid end-to-end broadcast solutions for six stations
By TVTechnology published
Cox Television has purchased Avid end-to-end broadcast solutions for six of its 15 television stations. Cox Television’s implementation of Avid broadcast solutions across these stations is part of the company’s plan to transition to an all-digital news production environment. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
All six Cox stations will use an Avid Unity for News shared-media network to facilitate the simultaneous ingest, edit, and output functions that make up a tapeless news production environment. The sale also includes multiple Avid iNEWS, Avid AirSPACE, and Avid NewsCutter systems. These systems support a production workflow that encompasses acquisition, editing, newsroom computer system automation, news distribution, and ongoing media asset management.
Cox will use Avid solutions from ingest to playout at CBS affiliate KIRO-TV in Seattle; Fox affiliates KFOX-TV in El Paso, Texas and KTVU-TV in San Francisco; NBC affiliates WJAC-TV in Johnstown, Penn. and WTOV-TV in Steubenville, Ohio; and ABC affiliate WSOC-TV in Charlotte, N.C.
