Cox Ramps Up HD VOD in Early Markets
Cox Communications (opens in new tab) has begun offering an initial serving of HD movie titles as part of its on-demand library. The expanded service is available in the MSO’s San Diego market, with Oklahoma City, Fairfax County, Va., and additional regions slated to ramp up HD VOD in the months head.
“We know our customers want more HD and our network is set up to deliver the best quality HD experience available…” said Cox.
Cox said all its digital-tier subs in its on-demand markets will be able to access various HD titles by tuning to Cox Channel 1. While only about 20 HD titles will be available in the initial startup, Cox said, the nation’s third-largest cable firm’s library of SD VOD titles currently number more than 5,000.
Its VOD service is now available in 13 U.S. markets.
