Concurrent introduces MediaHawk 4G On-Demand Platform

Concurrent Computer has introduced its new MediaHawk 4G On-Demand Platform, a technology offering broadband operators a new architecture for automated streaming, storage and management capabilities.

Because no two commercial on-demand deployments are the same, Concurrent said it designed its new fourth generation architecture for flexibility and three-dimensional (3-D) scalability to address storage, streaming and ingest needs. The MediaHawk 4G On-Demand Platform completely separates streams and storage, with a modular architecture and optimized throughput for read and write capabilities to support a variety of topologies and respond to the ever-increasing amounts of content driven by consumer viewing demands. Optional components supporting applications such as network-based digital video recording (NDVR) and enhanced tools for business management are also available.

Integral to the MediaHawk 4G On-Demand Platform is Concurrent's MediaMatrix system. MediaMatrix has the ability to manage streams, storage and content ingestion independently, enabling content storage and video throughput to be incrementally configured for maximum flexibility, reduction of equipment costs and complete scalability. With 3-D scalability, the MediaMatrix enables operators to respond to fluctuating demands and increasing amounts of content, including capabilities to support NDVR.
