Comcast Media Center (CMC) has selected Thales' Granite MPEG-2 transported stream monitoring system to monitor 40 different ASI transport streams (MPEG-2 digital multiplex). CMC provides network origination services via satellite for over 80 linear television channels, including HD and SD networks.
CMC's Headend in the Sky (HITS) digital television platform delivers over 150 services to 2,000 cable systems across the country. Dave Higgins, vice president of engineering and transmission operations for CMC, said the Granite system will enhance CMC's MPEG-2 encoding platforms by providing improved diagnostic and corrective tools.
