Comcast chooses Solid State Logic for 5.1 surround

Comcast SportsNet has installed a Solid State Logic C100 digital broadcast console to handle the 5.1 surround mixes of its sports events.

The company owns the cable rights and is the production entity for all of the local telecasts for the Philadelphia 76ers, Philadelphia Flyers and Philadelphia Phillies.

The SSL C100 is the audio hub for the two Philadelphia stadium locations, The Wachovia Center basketball/hockey arena and Citizens Bank Park, the new major league baseball stadium. The console generates Dolby E 5.1 surround, stereo and mono mixes for production and distribution.

The installation uses 6000 feet of fiber optic cable connecting SSL’s remote stagebox technology in the Citizens Bank Park, with the C100's location in the Wachovia Center.
