CNBC Takes Different Approach To HD Look
By TVTechnology published
When financial news channel CNBC launches its high-def service this fall, it will broadcast an HD picture in 4x3 aspect ratio and fill the vertical box to its left with graphics displaying the latest market news.
The services will be called CNBC HD+ and will be part of DirecTV expanded HD offerings. Cable operators are expected to carry the HD service as well.
According to reports, the visual strategy of CNBC HD+ is also a cost saver for the network because it minimizes the need for new equipment and does not require new widescreen sets.
