CEA publishes DTV interface standards

The Consumer Electronics Association’s Digital Television Interface Subcommittee has published two standards designed to help viewers set up and control a DTV accessory like a set-top box or digital video recorder using their TV screen.

The documents, CEA-761-B, “DTV Remodulator Specification with Enhanced OSD Capability,” and CEA-CEB5-B, “Recommended Practice for DTV Receiver ‘Monitor’ Mode Capability,” are intended to make the lives of consumers easier as they prepare for the digital television transition and replace existing analog sets with new DTVs. The standards will make it simpler for consumers to hook up accessory devices with an RF connection.
