CanWest Global Television deploys VertigoXmedia system for election coverage
By TVTechnology published
Canadian broadcaster CanWest Global Television used an advanced turnkey election graphics platform from Montreal-based VertigoXmedia to integrate coverage from the country’s recent elections.
Global Television installed the Vertigo system, based on the company’s ProducerXmedia platform, both in Toronto and at each of its local stations across the country. A central server operated out of Toronto, managing and distributing election results. This setup allowed different regions to provide their own full-screen graphics, tickers and charts — customizable to reflect the station’s look or identity — while inserting up-to-the-second information, including breaking headlines, from live data feeds.
Vertigo’s stack-based playout system allowed Global to create multiple sequences by dragging and dropping stack elements via a standard Windows-based graphical interface. Additionally, because the system allowed the broadcaster to pack more content into the stack, it enabled them to display more graphics than usual.
